Every time summer comes, I am like a child whose heart is leaping for joy while opening her birthday gifts. Nothing animates me the most than the warm weather. To add to the excitement, my best friend, (my hubby) stays at home 24/7 everyday for 77 days. Well, not really at home all the time, because we make sure we get to be outside, something we cannot really do often in the cold weather.
I was going to publish a post that I have written about America's legal age, but I have to hold it for this post. Instead, I posted something for my Rocker's Wife blog (which I have neglected for over a month) about my husband's band's songs which are available for downloads for fans of the game, Rock Band this September. Later, the songs will be released on Xbox 360 and Playstation. Read about it FREERIDER on Rock Band.
Another delightful news is that next week, will start the series of our "cheap" getaways. I call it cheap because the trips we're taking are just mostly local. One of them is in Connecticut. You, probably already know I am not crazy about this place but there are some "claimed fun places " worth a try. And next week, we'll head to Cape Cod in Massachusetts. Although, this is not my 1st time to journey there, I love the serenity and the quaintness of those little towns in that island where John F. Kennedy grew up. My husband is going to meet up with his high school friends and gig for old times' sake. However, this time, we're going to stay in a tourist motel. In the past, we used to stay in the 3-bedroom cottage beachfront house of my mother-in-law. A year ago, she sold it because it was pricey to maintain.
Next stop around the 1st week of August will be at the Lake Compounce right here at my home state. Water slides and pools are not enough to lure me but the different rides such as the Twister, Pirate Ship, Zoomerang and Sky Coaster are too exciting to pass up. Definitely, I'll try to ride them all, if not at least 3 of them. Unfortunately, my husband gets chicken-feet with thrill rides. He just would have to settle for those anything that involves water. He's like a fish when he's on water . I guess I'm pretty much alone riding.
Actually, we already purchased our tickets from Geico Privileges. We got our tickets for $27.00 each, about 20% off from gate price. But I have to face some bitter truth---my hubby wanted me to get a swimsuit. You know, I have this weird fear of swimsuits. I NEVER wear one---that's why I don't even take a dip. Maybe a one-piece but never a two-piece. I have this repugnant feelings about swimwear----that all my "flesh and soul" are bare to expose for everyone to see. Plus, the "stored baby fats" in unwanted places in my body are enough to make me squirm and to scare the hell out of me. The only time I wore a swimsuit was when I'm with the pool with my "kids" when I worked as a nanny and as soon as I got out from the water, I hurried fast at lightning speed just to grab a towel and to wrap around my body. Oh, and the other time, I wore a bikini when I was 8 years old which was a gift from my godmother.
Also, watching a Red Sox game is on our itinerary. I'd been to Fenway Park (Red Sox Stadium) only once, which was 3 years ago. Now, we want to come back and watch them in live action especially that they're currently topping the American League series. I don't want to watch it where I need to use goggles to view the game. I always prefer front seats, like my husband. Otherwise, I'd just watch it on TV instead.
I want try Hershey Park too. But I am still trying to scour for the lowest discounted price I could grab. Usually Geico gives discounts for the famed chocolate-ville, but right now, I find none. But I will keep on looking. If not, we'll visit my cousin and her family in Maryland.
Next year, travel plans to the Philippines are definite and beyond doubt. All we need are tickets but cannot buy yet because our planned date will be in 12 months. It's going to take a whole lot of money for just that trip, I tell you The roundtrip tickets alone for each cost almost $2,000 (current price). Saving for that trip is really my goal now.
How about you? Where will you go for summer? Is it expensive or affordable?

it sounds like you are going to have a very exciting and busy summer. i won't be going anywhere. after all, since only being in california for 6 months, and still unemployed, it feels like a sort of vacation for me already. i am actually saving mine for november when i go back and be with my daughter when she has her baby. that is going to be my time.
have a great weekend bingkee!

It's nice to indulge on those cheap getaways to really enjoy summer. Too bad, you are averse to wearing swimsuits since your husband adores swimming. Well you can just ride your favorite thrill rides to maximize your enjoyment of your summer getaways. Thanks for the post. God bless you always.

We just got back from a wonderful week on Cape Cod. There are pictures and commentary up on my blog:
http://www.orient-lodge.com
I hope you have a great time on the Cape. We spent most of our time on the Outer Cape in Truro, but also spent time in Dennis and Bourne.
My step-cousin works at Lake Compounce. I have not been there, but my daughter has and she is lobbying hard to get her grandfather to take her back there soon.
Tomorrow, I head off to a folk music festival in Hillsdale, NY, where I'll be for several days. Then, when I get back, I hope to fit in a little time to take my daughter blueberry picking in Connecticut. That is always a fun little getaway.

DEVIKI---Hehehe! It's really essential for me to have at least one getaway every year.

ALDON---Thanks...We're going to Yarmouth, but I'd been there for 3 times. I hope you also have a great time in Hillsdale. And happy blueberry picking.

Hi Bingkee,
We're off to Majorca in August for a week of sea, sun, sand and sangria and then coincidentally we are heading across the pond to Boston and the Cape Cod area in September/October.
Can't wait.
:0)
Cheers

PLASTIC M.--Oh , we're going there this Thursday and be at Boston on the 2nd week of August. September would be nice because by the time you come on October, the water will be very cold as it is autumn by that time.
